Mud and Trucks Sensory Play
Every so often I have to clean out the sandbox and instead of dumping out the last of the sand and wasting it I dumped it out into the baby pool! Add some water and toys (Finn loves adding trucks and dinosaurs) and you have a fun sensory mud box.
MATERIALS:
sand
water
container to hold them both
toys,cups, spoons to play in the mud with
If you don't want to use a baby pool and container or any size works. You could even just use a cookie sheet with sides and let them sit and play!
I stripped him down and let him explore it on his own. He was hesitant at first, but was soon jumping in the pool and digging up the mud with his trucks. I demonstrated how one truck could pour mud into the mother and he enjoyed scooping and pouring, both great fine motor practice!
I let him get as dirty as he wanted and soon he was carrying mud around the porch and bringing in more outside toys. Try not to worry about the mess and just enjoy watching them get dirty! Remember to have a towel ready to wipe them down! If the sand is sticking to their skin baby powder or corn starch remove sand in a snap!
