Shape Matching Pumpkins
This is a great shape recognition activity to get you in the Halloween spirit! All the printables can be found under the links tab.

If I had a laminator I would of loved to laminate these and use velcro to attach the shapes! If you do it that way you could tape the pumpkins around the house and have your child walk around to find the pumpkin matching their shape. Alas, until I have one we will use the table!
I started by laying out each pumpkin and showing Finley that they all had a matching
shape. I demonstrated matching them then handed him one shape at a time. Each time he put a shape on correctly we said the name of the shape. If he put it on incorrectly we found the correct shape together and said its name.
Children can often point to things before they can repeat them. Meaning if I asked Finley what is this, while holding up a circle, he may not answer. However if I ask him to find the circle he can do it! So after he had matched the shapes a couple times I began to ask him to hand me the pumpkin of a certain shape. Once he had handed them all to me I put them back on the table in a different order and asked again.
